LETTER TO HOUSEHOLDS ABOUT THE FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE MEAL PROGRAM FOR THE 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR
Dear Parent or Guardian:
The New Haven Unified School District participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. Meals are served every school day. Students may buy lunch for:
Elementary Schools $3.25, Middle Schools $3.75, and High School $4.00
and/or breakfast for: Elementary/Middle Schools $1.00 and High Schools $1.25. Eligible students may receive meals free or at a reduced price of $.40 for lunch and/or $.30 for breakfast.
Students may buy milk for $.50

  •  If you now receive Food Stamp, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), Kinship Guardianship Assistance Payments (Kin-GAP), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) benefits, all school age children in the household are eligible to receive free meals. If you do not receive a letter stating eligibility for each child in your household, please complete an online or paper application.
  •  If your total gross household income is the same or less than the Income Eligibility Guidelines, your child may receive meals free or at a reduced price. Household means a group of related or non-related individuals who are living as one economic unit and sharing living expenses. Living expenses include rent, clothes, food, doctor bills, and utility bills.
  •  A foster care child who is the legal responsibility of the welfare agency or ward of the court is eligible to receive meals free regardless of your income. A foster child can be placed on the family application with the rest of the household; if the foster family does not qualify, it does not prevent the foster child from receiving free meal benefits.
