Science Fair and Young Author's Fair a Night to Remember!

Science Fair and Young Author's Fair showcased student learning this last Wednesday. Says Allison Sayavong, "It has been an amazing week of learning and sharing together- all community members working together to build a strong, caring environment for all." Kitayama students use the scientific method to develop a hypothesis, experiment, and display their findings. Each year, the cafeteria is filled with the results of their hard work. In the library, student writing was on exhibit, from books that students wrote on their own, to pieces of writing completed as a class project. The amount of hard work leading up to this night was amazing!

Special thanks to the dedicated Science and Library Media teachers, Mrs. Banks and Mrs. Vranjes for organizing this wonderful night for our school community.  Thanks also to our amazing Kitayama PTA, and to our Interim Superintendent Dr. Smith and Board Members Mr. Ritchie and Mr. Dino for their supportive presence and help with facilitating science stations. Thanks also to Ms. Sayavong for taking photos of all of our fun events!

Many of the books and writing on display in the library will also be shared at the District Writing Celebration to take place on May 27. Students from all New Haven schools will take the stage Tuesday, May 27, for “A Celebration of Writing,” the District’s annual salute to its thousands of young authors. Student representatives from each school will read their original works starting at 6 p.m. at the James Logan High School Center for the Performing Arts. Thanks to our Literacy Coach, Vera-Lisa Roberts, for organizing our writers and writing for this upcoming event!
