This holiday season, the best gift you can give your child is a good education. And the best place to get an education is in school. It’s tempting to extend your vacation by a few days, but remember, those days count as absences. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused, can add up to too much lost learning time. So make sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning.

The Union City Library, the Alameda County Library and Math Science Nucleus present Science at the Union City Library for elementary age children. Families are encouraged to attend. No registration required for these free programs, but space is limited.

Time: 1 to 2 pm

The Winter Concert and Bake Sale will be taking place in the Multipurpose Room on Wednesday, December 5th at 7:00 pm. Donations of baked goods will help raise funds to support Kitayama's after school music program.

Kitayama families may drop off donations at the office on the morning of December 5th.

The New Haven Administrators Association has announced its 2012-13 award winners, including Kitayama's own principal, Lisa Metzinger. Congratulations, Mrs. Metzinger!


Can you help me find my way home?

On Tuesday afternoon, a small, older dog wandered onto the school campus when the gates were opened for parents to pick up their students.

Said one teacher "She looked like she was following a parent. I said 'You can't bring your dog on campus.' and the parent said it wasn't her dog." Another parent noticed her nearby, and that she seemed to be following a jogger, but stated that the jogger also claimed the dog was not hers.  Read More… »»
