Science Fair and Young Author's Fair showcased student learning this last Wednesday. Says Allison Sayavong, "It has been an amazing week of learning and sharing together- all community members working together to build a strong, caring environment for all." Kitayama students use the scientific method to develop a hypothesis, experiment, and display their findings. Each year, the cafeteria is filled with the results of their hard work. In the library, student writing was on exhibit, from books that students wrote on their own, to pieces of writing completed as a class project. Read More »»
Mrs. Vranjes, our Kitayama librarian, received $1000 in donations from Target for new books this year. She used the money to purchase popular series books, as well as others. Even better, the donation was matched by Kitayama's wonderful PTA! Thanks so much for the support for our budding and avid readers, PTA and Target!

Last night, Mrs. Kim Debono and Mrs. Lucy Saavedra (affectionately known as "Miss Lucy") were honored at the board meeting as the Certificated and Classified employees of the year. KitayamaElementary School science specialist Legratta Banks received a mini-grant of $2,635, for the school’s Go Green Science Club, designed to generate eco-conscience among students, staff and community. The club will help keep the school clean and spearhead recycling and beautification projects.
Come join us at 6:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Room for food, company and entertainment, then stay to peruse our auction baskets in the Media Center. Proceeds go directly to classrooms for field trips and classroom supplies. Hope to see you there!
